Hogs

In the summer of 2020 we brought our first hogs to our farm. They were mangalitsa crosses. It was a great chance to see how the breed grows and get a glimpse at their personality. 

Our plan is to breed and raise pure Mangalitsa and Mangalitsa crosses. The breed is known to have dark red and well marbled meat. While they're technically a lard pig, they are slow growing and great foragers. Their disposition is very sweet and dog-like. In late summer 2020 we bought two gilts, after a few weeks of warming up to us they began to lay down and roll over for belly rubs.
